Stitching up the McCanns

I'd been keeping an open mind about the case of Madeleine McCann's disappearance, until it was reported that the Portugese police wanted to see the father's laptop computer, to investigate emails. I can't see how that can be squared with anything except a stitch up of the parents by the police. Announcing it in advance of getting possession of the machine of course gives a criminal time to sanitise the laptop. The Portugese police can't consider Gerry McCann to be a criminal, and can't really be interested in whatever an unsanitised laptop might have revealed. The press release can only have been intended as part of a campaign of disinformation.
