In many ways this tale, though beautifully written, is somewhat unremarkable in the context the welfare-state created and randomly violent members of the underclass. It is also worth noting the role of CCTV in this case, no?
Yes, that is worth noting. I'm against the wide spread of cctv and from what I understand it hasn't had a net improving effect on clear up rates. But in this case, it might be that it allowed a crime to be solved that would otherwise have gone unsolved, which is of course a very good thing.
