Praise where it is due

But busy or not, I ought to take a moment to compliment Blood and Treasure for managing, however tenuously, to give Margaret Thatcher some of the blame for the new wave of Somali Pirates. That deserves top billing in any list of the Things Thatcher is to Blame For.

I was also amused by "I think it was Garrett Hardin’s Tragedy of the Commons that identified depleted fishing stocks as an example of what happens when no single entity owns property." My dear Dad identified the phenomenon to me before Mr Hardin wrote on the matter, largely to tease me for my own youthful contribution tragedical as a trawlerboy in the summer hols.

I'm never sure whether the people who quote Harding have read to the end of his essay. He was a touch strange, and that came out in the final section.
