No cheap points...

Dammit, I've been trying for days now. There were a few Risdons as witnesses, but no interesting or ironic results like a "Gordon Brown" being tried as a footpad, or a "Anthony Blair" being tried as a.. well... was "phony" a crime in the eighteenth century?

Anyway, if you want to have a go, the transcripts from the Hanging Courts at the Old Bailey are now online and fully searchable.

fantastic - thanks for that, i've just spent a very happy half hour looking for wild highwaymen and scarlet women swinging from my family tree ... so far I've only come up with a police constable giving evidence but there are still several other names to search.
