They come over here, take over our failed Indian restaurants, open cafes in them, sell beer and home-made food at supermarket prices, and keep me jamming, playing blues guitar until 5:00am.
Bastards. I'd run out of aspirin, I discovered, when I got home.

I'm pleased for you. One of our local pubs was refurbished and soon after taken over by Afro-caribbean crack dealers. An incident involving gun shots has resulted in the place being closed down. A nearby hotel's function room that had served the local area with various live music events and club nights for years was the scene of a gun fight between local (Afro-caribbean) drug dealers and is now closed down. Not all examples of immigration are positive. In fact from being in favour of it I'm now firmly against it. Personal first hand experience has been the reason behind the change.

Once would have been enough, anon.
Your experience with your local pub won't affect my experience of my local cafe, even though both are run by immigrants (I assume you were talking about immigrants there - lots of black people are native to this country).
I'd see your problem as one of law enforcement, not migration.
I have to disagree I'm afraid. I was being genuine when I said I was pleased for you. Your experience of immigration has obviously been a good one. Mine hasn't. I could have given you many more negative experiences. I used to be a club promoter for many years. Not any more, it's far too dangerous. It's not drunken English youths either. They are fairly easy to deal with. Afro-caribbean drug gangs with guns are a different thing altogether. It seems we have a different idea about what constitutes a native Englishman. All I can say is that there were no Afro-caribbeans in my parents day and hardly any in my youth. The fact there are now rather a lot in my local area has had an impact, some of which has been negative. I'd go as far as to say the area I live in feels less and less like England every day. I can't deny that the changes mass immigration has had on my local area have not, on the whole been beneficial. I happen to like English culture and the fact that it's disappearing slowly is not a cause for celebration.
Let me end by saying, in general, I like Portuguese people. All I was saying is that not all immigration is beneficial. I'd also say that numbers are important. At some point the amount of 'diversity' reaches a point where it's no longer a benefit to the indigenous community. In my opinion we reached that point some time ago.
