Dunning

It might not be what he intended, but John Redwood reminds us that the Classical Liberal tradition was forged in opposition to the Monarch.

Of course I intended what I wrote. To create a democracy in the UK our forefathers had to wrestle unaccountable and arbitrary power from the Crown and put it under Parliamentary oversight. Now we need to reassert accountable power in Parliament.

Perhaps it is time to reverse that process? Get all the "Classical Liberals" into one army, and hit the doorsteps in the name of Her Maj'. Perhaps also, the time has come for our Head of State to get back in the saddle and re-boot our sclerotic democracy. ( I will settle for the Princess "naff off" Royal, if Her Maj is busy).
