Non sequitur of the day

From Ellee Seymour's blog ban-everything-but-climate-alarmism*, where she quotes a letter from MEP Robert Sturdy:

Nevertheless, I do not agree with arguments that suggest biofuels are pushing up the price of our weekly shopping bill. In the UK we throw away around 20 million tonnes of food every year, food for thought you might say.
There is no logical connection between those two sentences. Yet the author is an MEP. Food for thought?
