Recently, Kamm has demonstrated that he understands the brevity of mailing list etiquette as imperfectly as he understands the way that Wikipedia is rooted in academic convention. This might be because the particular conventions in question derive from the practice of the physical sciences rather than the humanities - openness, peer review and testability, rather than the cathedral of authority.
