Our coloured brethren

Norm is, of course, right:

Criminalize certain forms of mere speech, and newly offensive discursive tropes - euphemistic, oblique, metonymic - will find their way into the world as a replacement.

I infer from something I saw the other day that it is Wrong to say "a coloured woman" but Right to say "a woman of colour".

People today are far to quickly and easily "offended". THAT is the problem.

...well partially true. But the real problem is the use of terms such as "hate speech" that prevents free expression. By doing that resentment and distrust build up.
